This evening I’ve been ‘hand spotting’ my homemade darkroom prints, it certainly takes a lot longer than photoshop! It’s another traditional art form that Im now trying to learn with my love for film photography. Patience and a steady hand and the final print looks lovely.

The process didn’t take too long but you do have to have patience to achieve a perfect finish along with an extremely small brush, I used a 0000 size brush. I used Marshalls neutral black spotting liquid and watered it down to achieve the different tones required throughout the image which worked well on Ilford Multigrade RC paper.

The original image was taken on the Isle of Skye, its the beautiful fairy pools and I used a 1980’s Bronica ETRSi with Kodak T-Max 100 to capture the scene.
