‘Heaven On Earth’ Isle of Skye – Scotland. Long Exposure Black & White

A very blustery day on the Isle of Skye, and we came across the ruins of this old Church. No windows remaining, and the inside walls covered in multicoloured graffiti. The cloud movement caught my eye and just begged to be captured. So I found my composition, knelt down in half a foot of mud surrounded by the 2 foot long straw grasses. I anchored my tripod legs by pushing them deep down into the mud, and stood shielding my camera from the high winds coming from behind me to get a 61 second exposure without any camera shake. The result is exactly what I imagined, and I love the way the clouds seem to burst out of the church – Heaven On Earth.

This image has been selected for ‘The Photographic Alliance of Great Britain’ and chosen to represent Yorkshire at the ‘Yorkshire Photographic Union’ 2018 exhibition (1 out of 200 chosen out of 3500 images)
