Description
‘Dunstanburgh Castle Sunrise’, a fair few months were involved in capturing this particular shot of Dunstanburgh Castle and the long exposure of the sea. I needed just the right tide at the right time near those slippery boulders known as the ‘death rocks’ and the sun to rise behind the castle, all at the right time within a few minutes of each other. Throw into the mix the changeable winter weather and a 7 hour round trip of driving. I like to think the planning paid off! This shot won an award for Yorkshire at the annual Yorkshire Photographic Union exhibition, and was 1 of the 200 displayed out of over 3500 entries, a proud moment for me. Dunstanburgh castle was built by Earl Thomas of Lancaster between 1313 and 1322. It stands on a remote headland in Northumberland, England.
